Chung-Ang University Basketball Team, Wins Championship at the 41st MBC National College Basketball Tournament

Chung-Ang University players are cheering after winning the 41st MBC National College Basketball Tournament.

[한국대학신문 이정환 기자] Chung-Ang University won the championship in thrilling fashion, defeating Yonsei University in the final of the 41st MBC National University Basketball Tournament, held on July 16th at the Sangju City Gymnasium.

Chung-Ang University claimed the university basketball championship after a hard-fought match against Yonsei University, securing an 84-82 victory by just two points following a second overtime. On that day, Ko Chan-yu led all scorers with 25 points, including a crucial run of 7 consecutive points in the final moments of the game, while Jung Se-young contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Seo Ji-woo added 16 points and 16 rebounds, with the entire team delivering a well-balanced performance.

Chung-Ang University basketball players are calling for a coach after winning the championship.

Head coach Yun Ho-young proved his outstanding leadership by leading the team to a championship just three months after taking charge of the team. Chung-Ang University reclaimed the MBC Cup championship trophy for the first time in 15 years, since the era when alumni Kim Sun-hyung and Oh Se-keun led the team.

Head coach stated, “It’s been such a long time since we last won a championship. It feels truly great to experience this feeling again,” and added, “I want to thank the players for not giving up, and we’ll use this victory as a stepping stone to grow even more, and we’ll keep working hard to win another championship.”

President Park Sang-gyu encouraged the basketball players and took a commemorative photo.

Meanwhile, President Park Sang-gue, Executive Vice President of the Davinci Campus Lee Hyung-hwan, Dean of Academic Affairs Cho Yong-chan, and other key administrators of Chung-Ang University personally visited the basketball team on July 17th at the Davinci Campus to congratulate and encourage them on their championship victory.
