[한국대학신문 이정환 기자] On Tuesday, September 16, the Game Content and Animation major of Chung-Ang University signed an exchange agreement with the Academy of Media Arts Cologne(Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln) at the Faculty Conference Room in Building 901 on the da Vinci Campus.

This agreement aims to institutionally expand the outcomes of the joint development project that has been ongoing for the past three years, and to establish a multi-dimensional collaboration system encompassing student exchange, joint research, and curriculum development.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Hyung-hwan, Vice President of the da Vinci Campus; Kim Seung-il, Dean of the College of Fine Arts; Cho Yong-chan, Director of Academic Affairs; Park So-hyung, Head of the School of Design; Chung Young-han, Chair of Western Painting; Han A-reum, Chair of Industrial Design; Yoo Jae-kyung, Professor of Piano major; Kim Hee-sun, Chair of Game Content and Animation; Oh Dae-won, Chair of Applied Music; Moon Sung-kwon, Professor of Food and Nutrition(PM of the RISE Committee); and Eo Hye-yoon, Professor of Food and Nutrition. Representing the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Vice President Žilvinas Lilas was in attendance.

The signing ceremony was supported by the Gyeonggi Regional Innovation-based University Support System RISE(Research for Innovation & Sustainable Engagement) Project at the da Vinci Campus, and proceeded in the following order: institutional introductions, signing and exchange of the agreement, commemorative photo session, networking lunch, and a campus tour.

Since 2022, Department of Game Content and Animation at Chung-Ang University and the exMedia department of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne have been conducting joint seminars and development projects over a three-year period, promoting convergence research in art and technology. This agreement was established as an institutional framework to build upon these achievements and to facilitate formal academic exchange in the future. The two universities plan to conduct annual student exchanges(one student per year for up to one semester) and faculty exchange programs, while gradually expanding joint seminars, symposia, and collaborative curriculum development.

Professor Kim Hee-sun, Chair of the Game Content and Animation major, stated, “This exchange agreement marks a starting point for institutionalizing the exchange experiences we have accumulated over the past three years,” and added, “I hope it will provide our students with opportunities to share their academic and artistic achievements on the European and international stage, and to broaden their horizons.”
